This place has some legs (smile emoji). I've been searching/waiting for an East African restaurant for years in the Portland!

NOBODY serves roast goat...okay, Akadi (West African) serves a stewed goat, but the eclectic taste of goat is drowned out by the stew seasoning unfortunately. Grilled is the best way to eat it and Safari had that with Ugali and Sukuma Wiki?? (big eyes emoji)  I was ecstatic to say the least when I first heard of this place from a visiting Kenyan woman.

The place could use some upgrading but the goat, Ugali, grilled chicken and the special East African seasoned Basmati rice was spectacular. The Sukuma Wiki (spinach) was very oily, which surprised me. But I'll be back for more!

Good food. Don't go for the ambiance or service. Just to eat an authentic meal. The goat was really good.

This is a small family run restaurant tucked in a corner on SE 79th and Powell. If you don't look for it you probably would pass it easily.
I came because someone has asked me to support their business. Well, this place really needs lots of help. The menu is not well designed, even though there were only limited items on the menu, the layout, photos and descriptions are quite confusing. When I ordered most items are not available. The staff person seemed to avoid customers on purpose. We had to constantly getting her attention. The food is not bad, quite filling. I wanted to place a large order for an upcoming event but the waitress asked me to come back a week before the event. I asked her to write down my order and she said she will forget. WTH?? My fiend who visited this place months ago had same experience.
    Not coming back anytime sooner.
